Supportive Learning Program & After School Program

- In Support of our Brookline Public Schools and Community -
3rd- 5th grade students

To meet a critical community need during the COVID-19 crisis and the current Brookline Public Schools remote learning plans, the Brookline Recreation Department will be running a new program,BREC Supportive Learning Program! BREC Supportive Learning is a full-day experience that will blend each child’s online school curriculum with full-day supervision and recreation activities. We will also be offering an extended hours After School Program for families that need a couple more hours of child care during the day.

How it Works

Brookline Recreation Supportive Learning Program will be helping students during the day with their remote learning. Each student will have their own workspace 6 feet away from other students. Students will be required to wear masks while doing their online school work but, there will be plenty of opportunities for the masks to come off during breaks.
During the school day if students need help with the technology, an academic task, or navigating the technology the staff will help. Students will be required to provide their own remote learning device (Chromebook or laptop), headphones, snacks, and lunch.

Once the day is over the BREC staff will clean and disinfect the classroom and high touch areas making sure it’s ready for the next school day.

Pricing and Schedule
Payments are paid monthly. The price is $525/week for Supportive Learning Program, additional fee for Extended Day of $30 per day. Programs are prorated accordingly to factor in holidays. Please note half days and early release days are not prorated.

Transportation is not provided.

Programming and School Schedule
The Supportive Learning and After School program follows the Public Schools of Brookline school calendar. If there is no school, the program will be closed. If schools have a half day, children who are enrolled  will come to us early and have an extended day with us.

The After School Program is closed during school vacation weeks, however the Recreation Department will offer additional programming as an alternative for a separate cost and separate registration.
