Brookline Dolphins Swim Team

Competitive Season

The Dolphins is a year-round recreational swim team for swimmers 6-18 years old, which focuses on improving swim skills and challenging swimmers in a fun and sports-friendly environment!  Our competitive season takes place during our fall/winter seasons. We participate in the Winter Swim League (WSL), and compete against neighboring town teams. The competitive season runs from mid-October through the first weekend in March, which is Championship weekend.

Participants of the
team are required to be Brookline residents or students that attend a Brookline school. All participants MUST try-out and qualify for the team.

Visit our Team Unify site for additional information, or contact Sam Packard at spackard@brooklinema.gov.

Program Goals

  • To provide swimmers with the opportunity to develop their swimming and social skills within the context of a supportive and nurturing environment.
  • To build upon the swimmers' knowledge of the four competitive strokes, and help them develop and improve these strokes to the best of their ability.
  • To deliver a youth athletic program that encourages good sportsmanship and teamwork, in order to instill a positive attitude and strong self-esteem in all our participants.
  • To have FUN!

Tryouts

(Returning Dolphins that qualified AND attended B or A Championships do not need to try out).

New swimmers looking to join the Dolphins must try out for the team. Tryouts for the fall/winter season are held in early September. Tryouts for the spring season will be held in February. Tryouts for summer season will be held in June.

When tryout registration is available, it can be found here.

Dolphins in Training

The Dolphins in Training program only runs in the spring and summer seasons.  There are no meets, no volunteering or minimum attendance requirements. Practices are typically run by our competitive team coaches. This group is for any swimmer that is not quite ready for the competitive team yet or who is not interested in competing, or the level of commitment required.

Participants are required to try-out to ensure they qualify for the Dolphins in Training Group. Swimmers should be at a minimum of an advanced American Red Cross Level 4 (if under 8) or Level 5 (if 9 and up), or equivalent, to participate.

Once you qualify from tryouts, registration can be completed here once it is open and available.
